oh my god. i feel like an idiot. i never thought of the term "movies" as having the same origin as the term "talkies." they called them "talkies" because they were the update to silent films, i.e. including talking. in that same line, the predecessor of talkies would just be called movies........ because the images move. MOVIES. oh my god. glad i never had a film class or my film professor would be bashing their head into a wall right about now. i guess you only know what you know!

There is also the French Lumiere Brothers that invented the motion picture camera AND made short films before Edison as well (its also widely believed that Edison took the idea from the brothers after he saw their films).

17:57 I spent several days on a train once, and in my experience, you DO start to notice and recognize the other people there after that much time. You see them in the dining car, the observation deck, etc. At one point, I fell down while getting off at a stop. People were saying "I saw you fall, are you ok?" For days after. You have to squeeze uncomfortably close to people when you pass in the extremely narrow hallways, too. I highly doubt that NOBODY would have remembered seeing him if he was there. Not even ONE person?

Edison invented pretty much just one thing: Modern R&D by just hiring a lot of smart people to work on the stuff he told them to work on. Before that, inventors usually came up with things and had to find sponsors. Everything else Edison did was stealing other people's ideas (Usually from people working for him, but... not always.), and marketing.

From now on i will always correct people by saying *Louis Le Prince* was the true inventor and father of film. Hopefully this video blows up, helps, spreads and brings Louis back to life with his name in the history books as the true father of film.

We did learn about him in my film class as his story is very interesting. But not only did Edison steal the idea of motion pictures from Louis Le Prince, but also his employee, Dickson who had also been inventing one, and he pretty much completely took that and called it his own.

+Catarina Henriques broski buddy boy, if he ran away, he cam make himself completely unfindable. he can erase every trace of himself. that was his goal - to disappear completely, maybe even start a new life. who are they going to subpoena? if he had a new identity, there's no way they would have known about it. if he wanted to disappear, he would not have come to court just to make his presence known yet again.

  31. Catarina Henriques

+kat - corky beebo it does not make any sense.. if you are Alive there's no reason not to appear in court.. specially when your son is stepping up for you - you'd have to be dead already!

11:09 This would be par for the course for Edison. Most of the inventions he had patents for he didn't himself invent, he either bought or stole them and claimed he invented it by himself. One he even took from the guy's destitute widow after he died, and he discredited Tesla's AC wiring by publicly electrocuting an elephant to death, after he had already stolen credit for some of Tesla's inventions. The guy was a raging douchebag is what I'm saying. I wouldn't put it past him to have a few people whacked.

Jealousy and envious feelings are what destroys our human population ... That's why it's always better and safe to keep ur plans which u planned to bring into reality ,,,locked and sealed until its done. ,,,because some evil persons out there just don't like to see people be successful. . shame on humanity....

I don’t think it was the brother. Like, even if he did need money, if you’ve seen this world changing invention your brother is about to unveil to the world, the other eighty thousand from the mother’s will your brother gets suddenly seems small compared to the millions he’s about to make, like, if you’re as close a family as they were said to be, this invention is a all expense paid lifetime family pass to easy street.
